This session – recorded in January 2022 – is to give you a taster of what it’s like to work as a statistician in the Scottish Government, and to give you hints and tips on how to complete the application form and prepare for the assessment centre. While the rounds of recruitment mentioned in the video close on the 2nd and 7th of February 2022, the content will be relevant to future recruitment drives by the Scottish Government.
You can also listen to a podcast with the Scottish Government’s Chief Statistician Roger Halliday to gain more insight into the fascinating work his team undertakes and the many careers paths that can lead to a job in statistics: What Does a Statistician Do?
Please note: The application form for current Band B statisticians specifies there is a word limit of 300 words for each of the essential criteria. In this information session it was wrongly communicated there is no word limit. In conjunction with HR, the Scottish Government will ensure fairness in how applications are considered. However, there is also the option to withdraw and resubmit your application if you would like to amend your answers. We and the Scottish Government apologise for any confusion this may cause.
