On behalf of The Data Lab, I am delighted to announce that Gillian Docherty has been appointed as our Chief Executive Officer, with effect from 1 June 2015.
Over the last few months, we have made great progress in establishing The Data Lab under the guidance of Dave Clark, who held the position of interim CEO since November 2014. As The Data Lab continues to evolve, we are now pleased to welcome Gillian as our CEO.
Gillian is joining The Data Lab from IBM, where she was the leader of IBM Software Group for Scotland.
Previously Gillian has held a variety of Sales and Leadership roles across the UK at IBM including Systems and Technology Sales Leader and Territory Leader for General Business Scotland. She also worked within IBM’s Outsourcing Business for several years. Gillian had been with IBM for 22 years.
Gillian is on the Board of Tech Partnership Scotland and is also a Board member of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce.
Gillian has a degree in Computing Science from Glasgow University and is married with a daughter.
Her experience, knowledge and leadership are highly regarded and I am confident that Gillian will provide strong leadership to guide The Data Lab into the future. Arrangements are in place for a smooth transition and handover between the two CEOs.
I would like to give special thanks to Dave Clark who has made a very important contribution to the organization during its set-up stage. I know everyone joins me in expressing our deep appreciation for Dave’s efforts and achievements. We wish Dave well in his future ventures.
Under the executive leadership of Gillian Docherty, The Data Lab is embarking upon a very exciting new phase of growth and development to ensure the members of the data science community in Scotland are well served. Please join me and The Data Lab in extending your support and a warm welcome to Gillian.
Yours sincerely,
Neil Logan
